How This Resource Began
Language matters.
A family has to recognize that a resource was created for them before they will ever use it.
Years ago, while sharing the Disability Funding Guide at a three day Generation Rescue autism conference in Texas, Tammy noticed something important. Families were facing many of the same kinds of financial needs she had already been helping other parents navigate, but they were not connecting with a resource called the Disability Funding Guide.
One of Tammy's daughters helped her see the disconnect. The information could still be useful, but many families at that particular conference did not recognize themselves in the name of the resource.
On the airplane home from Texas, Tammy began writing the Autism Funding Guide.
The Lesson That Stayed
Families need to see themselves in the doorway.
That experience became about more than creating another book. It helped shape a principle that still matters throughout The Funding Project's Family Resource Library.
Families may share similar financial needs while describing their child's experience very differently. Distinct resource areas help families find the information that feels relevant to them, while the same financial advocacy process connects the work behind each one.

The Guide is designed to help families become more prepared and organized as they search for support.
