Real Stories from Real Families
The Funding Project exists because of families like yours. This is a place where families and individuals connected to our mission can share their stories in their own words, about their own experiences.
These stories are about navigating the NICU, living with disability, raising children with rare diseases, facing childhood cancer, and discovering that a piece of equipment, a resource, or a community connection can change everything.
Our First Family Voice
We are honored to share Matthew's story, a testament to a family's determination, a community's generosity, and the profound difference that adaptive equipment can make in a child's life.
Matthew's Story
Matthew is 7 years old and has 4 rare diseases, along with a long list of more common diagnoses including CP, autism, hypotonia, global delays, and intellectual disability. Despite everything, Matthew is, in his family's words, the happiest boy ever.
His family navigated a NICU stay, thousands of hours of therapy, complex insurance challenges, and the daily reality of caring for a child with profound needs, all while watching Matthew work harder than anyone could imagine for every ability he has today.
Thanks to Project Mobility, Matthew received an adaptive bike twice. Riding that bike has given him freedom, exercise, joy, and the chance to ride alongside his sister. His family's message is one of hope: disability does not mean a person cannot have a happy and fulfilling life.

Family Voices is more than a page on a website. It is a community of families choosing to share their experiences so that other families feel less alone and more equipped to advocate for their own children.
You Are Not Alone
When families share their journeys, they remind other families that the challenges, the confusion, and the breakthroughs they experience are not theirs alone to carry.
Your Story Educates
Stories help sponsors, funders, hospitals, and communities understand what families actually need, far better than statistics ever could.
Happiness Is Possible
Many families living with complex needs discover what Matthew's story shows us that disability, rare disease, and hardship do not have to define the whole story. Happiness is a choice, even in the most difficult circumstances.
